This morning we depart from Cusco to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to start the phenomenal Stargazing trip of the Peruvian skies. Our first visit will be to the Pisac ruins, built by the Incas on top of a mountain that towers over the small town of Pisac, where you will find a daily handicraft market. Following our visit, we will go to the town of Pisac to enjoy a typical Peruvian meal. Later, we will head to the community of Pampallacta, where our family host welcomes us with a cup of hot coffee, or a mate made of fresh herbs in their home. Here we begin our journey to the Peruvian Andean cosmos, where we will spend the night in our comfortable homestay rooms. You will have plenty of time to rest, organize your camera gear, and following a delicious dinner we will get out under the stars for a night of stargazing and astrophotography of the Andean clear skies. Domingo is on hand each night to help with observing and astrophotography. After a wonderful experience of stargazing, we head back to our warm and cozy rooms, to fall asleep in a peaceful environment.
Day 2: Inca Site Ancasmarca – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes (B, L)
After a delicious breakfast prepared by our host family, our journey continues to Ancasmarca, an outstanding archeological site formed by rounded structures built by the ancient Incas of Peru. Here we will contemplate the beauty of this ancient site and take some great pictures. In the middle of the mountains of Perú, llamas will be waiting to join us along the three hours trek in a pre-Hispanic trail towards the community of Totora. On arrival to Totora, our transport will be waiting to take us to Mama Nancy’s house, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in a remote area. She will welcome us in her home where we will delight our senses with delicious Peruvian food. After a delicious lunch, we will depart to the town of Ollantaytambo, to board our train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town) to spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
