Day 1: Arrive Lima, Peru
At your arrival in the Lima airport, you will be met by our Kallpa Travel Representative holding a sign with our Kallpa logo and your name. If arriving in the morning or afternoon we will transfer you to Miraflores, however if arriving in the evening or early morning we will walk you to the Lima airport hotel so you can get some rest.
Day 2: From Lima to Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas – Cochahuasi Rescue Centre – Pisac Ruins + Market (B, L)
At the scheduled time you will be transferred to the Lima airport or walk to the nearby airport depending on where you spent the night. When you arrive in Cusco, our English, Spanish and Quechua speaking guide will greet you and drive off to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the altitude is lower than Cusco making it easier to acclimatize. On the way out to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we will stop off at the Cochahuasi Rescue Centre, a family-run private organization dedicated to rescuing and looking after animals rescued from abusive owners, illegal hunters, and poachers. As a part of your nature trip to Peru, you will have the opportunity to see a variety of animals from vicunas, llamas, alpacas, Andean Condors and perhaps a puma! We will have a delicious Peruvian lunch before restarting our exploration of the Sacred Valley. After lunch, visit the Pisac ruins which was possibly used as a residence, observatory, citadel, and a religious site by the Incas. Then walk around the Pisac crafts market where you can pick up gloves, scarfs, sweaters, jewelry, and other handicrafts. This fantastic tour has concluded and now we will leave you at your hotel in Urubamba.
Day 3: Kayaking on Lake Piuray – Ceramics Workshop Sacred Valley (B, L)
After breakfast we will head to the amazing lake Piuray, located in the district of Chinchero, amid the striking Andes Mountains to engage in adventurous activities. We will have a briefing and safety instruction session before heading out onto the lake Piuray to kayak on the tranquil waters. This is perfect to investigate the flora and fauna of the area and see the beautiful surrounding landscapes. We will have a picnic lunch, lakeside before going to our next event. After lunch, we will head off to a local pottery workshop in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to dig our hands in clay. This interactive class will demonstrate how the local people of the Peruvian Andes make their ceramics and now you can try your hand in pottery making! We will leave you in your hotel in Urubamba.
Day 4: Maras Salt Mines – Moray – Ollantaytambo – Train to Agaus Calientes (B, L)
Today, we will explore more of the Inca world in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Take a scenic drive to the Maras salt mines passing villagers and dramatic landscapes. Walk to the viewpoint where you will observe wonderful views of the salt ponds laid out in front you, and the workers harvesting the white pure salt. Proceed to Moray to explore the Inca agricultural terraces that is believed to have been used as an experimentation center by the Incas. Enjoy a delicious lunch in a restaurant in Ollantaytambo. Discover Ollantaytambo, the only living Inca Town with terraces that were built facing the ancient town. Afterward, board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Village), gazing out at the breathtaking countryside. Arrive at Aguas Calientes where the hotel staff will be waiting to escort you to your hotel.
Day 5: Discover Machu Picchu – Hike Huayna Picchu – Train to Cusco (B, L)
Discover the secrets of Machu Picchu, built by the Incas during their reign in Peru.
In the morning ride the shuttle with your English,, Spanish and Quechua speaking guide to immerse yourself in the intriguing history of the Incas. Begin exploring, Machu Picchu, One of the Seven Wonders in the World, gazing at the perfect construction of the temples, corridors, Sun Temple and other sacred buildings at this extravagant citadel. There are many theories as there were no written records left behind by the Incas of the purpose or real name of Machu Picchu. Following an eye-opening experience, go hike Huayna Picchu to catch splendid views of the amazing landscapes. Next, return to Aguas Calientes by bus and have a delicious Peruvian lunch. Then board the train to the Poroy station where our staff will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 6: Cusco City Tour – Chocolate Workshop (B)
Explore Cusco, the imperial city of the Incas, with Its cobbled streets and eclectic mix of Inca and Spanish colonial architecture which is astounding. We will head to the nearby archaeological site that overlooks Cusco, Sacsayhuaman, called a fortress but was really a sacred complex. Gaze at the impressive Inca stonework of Sacsayhuaman, that will baffle you. We will head back down to the city of Cusco and visit the Qoricancha Sun Temple, the gorgeous Plaza de Armas with its stunning Cathedral, the famous San Pedro market, for a taste of tradition and culture. Then head to the 12 angle stone and the San Blas artisan district, which today is a bohemian neighborhood of narrow cobbled streets filled with artist shops, cafes and bars. In the afternoon, we will walk to the Choco Museum in Cusco, for a succulent chocolate making workshop. Its time for a hands on experience from bean to chocolate and learning the history of the origin of the ultimate cacao. The aromatic mouthwatering Peruvian chocolate workshop will be a fantastic family experience. Next, return to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 7: From Cusco to Lima – Lima City Tour – Magical Water Circuit (B, L)
After breakfast, transfer to the Cusco airport to fly to Lima. Arrive in Lima, Peru where our staff will be waiting to take you to Miraflores. Enjoy a wonderful Peruvian meal before starting the tour of Lima, the city of kings. Visit the modern and historical sides of Lima discovering the colonial buildings with beautiful architecture. Later in the early evening, tour the Magic Water Circuit with 13 fountains lit with colored lights and music. This is a fantastic show for you and your children.
Day 8: Good Bye Peru! (B)
Today enjoy some time at leisure in Lima, Peru, buying souvenirs, eating delicious ceviche, drinking the famous Pisco sour or just wandering around Miraflores. Then its time to go to the Lima airport to connect to your international flight home.
