BOOKING

How do I book a tour?

You may reserve a tour with Kallpa travel in a number of ways.

Can I book multiple tours at once?

You may book as many tours as you like with Kallpa Travel! We are more than happy to book individual tours or treks as well as personalized travel itineraries to cater for your every need!

How much in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking in advance so that all of your travel requirements are met. Please remember that we may need to book trains, hotels or entrance tickets in advance to secure the best services. We can organize your travel plans at any point up to 30 days before your dates of travel and depending on availability.

Do you accept last-minute bookings?

Kallpa Travel does not accept last minute bookings as our focus is on excellent customer service and experience. For this we need to reserve certain services in advance and plan your tour accordingly.

Can I make changes to my reservation?

You may make changes and alterations to your travel itinerary. This may incur a penalty or charge wherever a change includes flights, trains, hotels or entrance tickets, as we purchase these in advance. This will depend on the booking terms of the third party agent and their policies – Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

How do I cancel a booking? What are the fees involved?

You may cancel your trip without a cancellation fee up to 30 days before the start date of your trip, minus any unrecoverable third party costs. You can contact us via the website, or e mail or by telephone.

If you cancel between 25 and 16 days before the departure date, we will charge a 20% penalty to cover our costs and third party costs

If you cancel between 15 and 6 days before your trip, we will charge a 50% penalty to cover our costs and third party costs.

If you cancel less than 5 days before your trip, we are not able to refund any amount due to associated costs

What happens if Kallpa Travel is forced to cancel a tour at the last minute?

Kallpa travel will not cancel a tour except for the following reasons:

    -force majeure.

    -Unsafe climatic conditions.

    -Where the health or safety of the client is at risk.

    -Risks outside of the control of Kallpa travel.

We will, wherever possible, facilitate the rearrangement of your tour for alternative dates, however this may incur additional costs for unrecoverable third party services

How do I know if my payment has gone through?

We will send you confirmation of payment and services, once we have received it, via Email

TOURS

What languages are the tours available in?

We provide tours in in English or Spanish as standard. Guides in other languages can be requested, sometimes this will incur an additional cost

Will there be other people in the tour?

Kallpa Travel only offers private tours for you and your family. There will not be anyone else on your tour.

Where can I find all the information about a tour?

Our itineraries are published on our website. You will also be send a detailed itinerary once you have booked your tour. If you have requested a tailor made tour then we will send the details of the itinerary via E mail.

How do I find (and recognize) my guide before the tour starts?

Your guide will collect you from the airport in the Kallpa travel uniform and with a sign with your name clearly visible.

How can I contact my guide if I can’t find them?

You can call the Kallpa Travel Number at any point on (+51) 962236479 or for any questions or concerns.

What happens if I’m running late?

Contact us for any delays on (+51) 962236479 so that we can adapt accordingly.

Are your tours suitable for children?

Most of our tours are suitable for children. Under 3 year olds will not be charged  for our services. Please ask us at the time of booking if the tour you would like to do is appropriate for children and we will assess the itinerary or adapt the itinerary for younger children.

What kind of transportation is included in the tour?

All of our transport is private with the exception of trains to Machu Picchu.

PAYMENT

How can I pay for my tour?

We accept 3 payment methods:

    – We Travel- www.wetravel.com

Secure payment platform accepting all major credit cards.

    – Paypal (ask us for our Paypal account number)

    – Bank Transfer (ask us for our bank account number)

Is my online payment secure?

 Online payments via the WeTravel platform are totally secure.

Under which name will my purchase appear on my bank statement?

Payments will appear as Kallpa Travel on your bank statement.

Do your prices include VAT? Can I claim it back after?

Tours in Peru are tax exempt for foreign citizens. For nationals, you will have to pay 18% IGV if you are a Peruvian citizen.

In which currency will I be charged?

You will be charged in US dollars.

What should I do if my payment is declined?

If your payment is declined, please contact your bank or credit card supplier as you may not be authorized for international bank transfers or payments.

What does Kallpa mean?

“Kallpa” in our native language of Quechua means “vibrant energy”, representing the “strength of life itself, bringing harmony between all living beings and nature, for the benefit of the universe around us.

How was Kallpa Travel born?

Kallpa Travel was born out of the idea of Domingo Atao, born in a small Quechua community with traditional customs and ancestral traditions, Domingo has always dedicated his time to rural and sustainable tourism and maintains his connection to the communities, territories and the local environment. Sharing his cultural understanding and practices of these customary ways of life, like other members of the community, has meant that these ancient traditions have never been lost and have been passed down the generations for hundreds of years.

Our main aim and focus is to unite our travellers with the Quechua communities we visit, as well as the whole Kallpa team. Are you recruiting guides?

At the moment we are not recruiting guides due to the Covid -19 situation. Our team of professional guides are waiting atently for tourism to reactivate in Peru and to be able to offer their exemplary service.

Is Kallpa Travel the middle man?

Kallpa travel operates all of its own tours and treks. We are not the middle man.

Are you a travel agency?

Kallpa Travel is an authorized travel Agency in Peru.

GUIDES

Who are your guides?

Our guides are all local people from Quechua speaking communities, who speak Spanish and English also.

Where do I meet my guide?

Your guide will pick you up from the airport or hotel, depending on your preference. S/he will be wearing a Kallpa Travel uniform so you can recognize them!

Is it possible to select a specific guide for my tour?

You may choose a specialist guide if you have specific interests or language requirements.  we will give you all the different options at the time of booking.

Should I give my guide a tip?

It is customary to tip the guides in Peru, though not obligatory. A 10% tip (of the cost of your tour) is an appropriate amount to tip as a general rule. Though please feel free to tip more for an exceptional service or less for a poor service, in the rare instance that this is the case.
