DAY 1: Cusco, Capuliyoc to Santa Rosa, Gateway to Choquequirao.
As dawn breaks, we bid farewell to Cusco and begin our journey to Capuliyoc, the starting point for our Choquequirao trek to Machu Picchu. This off-the-beaten-path route through the Peruvian Andes promises stunning vistas and a deep connection with history and nature. Our private transport winds through breathtaking Andean landscapes, each turn revealing panoramic views that leave us in awe.
Our knowledgeable guide enriches our journey with captivating tales of the region’s rich history and vibrant culture. After a scenic drive, we arrive at Capuliyoc, where our trusty horses and muleteers await to accompany us on our trek. Excitement builds as we descend into the magnificent Apurímac Canyon, pausing to enjoy a delicious lunch in Chiquisca, prepared by our talented chefs. Energized and inspired, we continue to Santa Rosa, our serene campsite for the night, nestled amidst the natural beauty of the Andes.

DAY 2: Santa Rosa to Choquequirao.
We set out early from Santa Rosa, ascending winding trails shaded by ancient trees until we reach Maranpata, where a refreshing hot drink awaits. Continuing our hike, we arrive at Choquequirao, ready to explore its awe-inspiring terraces and intricate stonework. These terraces are a testament to the ingenuity of the Inca civilization, showcasing advanced agricultural practices and a deep reverence for nature. As the day draws to a close, we gather for a delicious dinner prepared by our skilled chef, before retiring to our tents amidst the tranquility of the mountains.
DAY 3: Choquequirao to Pinchayunuyoc.
Another incredible day begins with a deeper exploration of Choquequirao’s ancient city. We immerse ourselves in its history and architecture, visiting plazas, temples, and the llama sector. Our guide provides insights into the significance of each area, revealing the practical and spiritual aspects of Inca urban planning.
After exploring Choquequirao, we trek to Pinchayunuyoc, enjoying breathtaking views of the canyon along the way. The journey culminates at our campsite, where the panoramic backdrop of the canyon creates a serene evening under the stars, connecting us intimately with the natural world.
DAY 4: Pinchayunuyoc To Maizal
After enjoying a hearty and delicious breakfast set against the backdrop of stunning mountain vistas, we will embark on our journey into the depths of the canyon towards White River. As we descend, the trail will lead us through a variety of landscapes, from lush vegetation to rugged terrain, each offering its own unique charm. Nestled deep within the canyon, White River is a tranquil oasis, providing a serene setting that contrasts beautifully with the dramatic surroundings. The soothing sound of the river and the secluded environment make it a perfect spot to pause and absorb the natural beauty around us.
From White River, our adventure continues with an invigorating ascent to our next campsite at Maizal. This climb, while challenging, is incredibly rewarding. The path will take us through diverse ecosystems, from dense forests to open highland plains, each teeming with unique flora and fauna. As we ascend, the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys will become increasingly mesmerizing. The towering peaks of the Andes, often dusted with snow, create a majestic panorama that is both humbling and inspiring.
The trail to Maizal will also reveal glimpses of the area’s rich history, including remnants of ancient agricultural terraces and pathways once used by the Incas. Upon reaching Maizal, we will be greeted by a campsite that offers unparalleled views of the Andes. Here, we can settle in and reflect on the day’s journey, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the mountains. The campsite’s elevated position provides a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset cast a golden glow over the peaks, creating a magical atmosphere that is both peaceful and invigorating.
As night falls, the clear Andean sky will reveal a canopy of stars, offering a stunning spectacle for stargazing. The crisp mountain air, the sound of nature, and the sense of accomplishment from the day’s trek will make this evening at Maizal a truly memorable part of our adventure.
DAY 5: Maizal To Yanama And On To The Lucmabamba Coffee Farm.
After breakfast amidst breathtaking mountain vistas, we trek towards Yanama, passing through lush bamboo forests and historic silver mines. The trail rewards us with a panoramic view of the surrounding mountain range from the Minas Victoria pass, a testament to nature’s grandeur.
Arriving in Yanama, our transport awaits to journey to Lucma village. Here, Mama Alejandra welcomes us into her home, offering comfort and a glimpse into local culture. After a day of trekking, enjoy a hot shower and cozy accommodation, a perfect respite before continuing our journey.
DAY 6: Lucmabamba Coffee Farm to Machu Picchu Pueblo.
After a refreshing night’s rest in our comfortable rooms, we will begin the day with a hearty breakfast. The highlight of our morning meal will be the fresh coffee sourced directly from Mama Alejandra’s farm, the perfect start to our day.
Following breakfast, Mama Alejandra will take us on a fascinating two-hour tour of her coffee estate. We will delve into the fascinating world of coffee production, learning about the various stages of the process that make Santa Teresa a renowned coffee-growing region. From the careful cultivation of coffee plants to the meticulous harvesting of coffee cherries, and the intricate roasting techniques that bring out the rich flavours of the beans, this tour will provide a comprehensive understanding of coffee production. Mama Alejandra’s passion and knowledge will make this even more special! Once we have explored the coffee estate and savoured the rich aromas and tastes of freshly roasted coffee, we will continue on our way. Our private transport will take us to the hydroelectric plant. This scenic drive will offer us views of the lush landscapes and rugged terrains that characterize this beautiful region.
At the hydroelectric plant, we will board a train that will take us to the town of Machu Picchu. The train ride offers stunning views of the Andes and the Urubamba River as it winds through the valley. On arrival in Machu Picchu, we will check into our hotel. This is an opportunity to unwind and relax after our adventurous trek.
DAY 7: Machu Picchu Exploration and Return to Cusco.
Today is a special day as we prepare to visit Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Early in the morning, we will take the bus from our hotel to the Machu Picchu entrance. Here, we will present our tickets and passports, ensuring we are ready for the adventure that awaits us. The journey to the archaeological site itself is a breathtaking experience. The bus winds its way up the mountain offering glimpses of the magnificent ruins in the distance. Our tour of Machu Picchu will last approximately three hours, led by our expert tour guide. This in-depth exploration will allow us to fully appreciate the historical and architectural prowess of this ancient Inca city. We will wander through the well-preserved terraces, temples, and plazas, learning about the significance of each structure and the innovative engineering techniques employed by the Incas. Our guide will share fascinating insights, bringing the history of Machu Picchu to life. Once we have thoroughly explored the site and soaked in the incredible views, we will take the bus back to the town of Machu Picchu for lunch. This will be a wonderful opportunity to relax and reflect on our visit while enjoying a delicious meal.
